Color Guard Performances 2020-2021
To add event dates to your calendar, please click here for link to the NHS Music Boosters Calendar. Every effort is made to keep the calendar current. The Music Directors may add an event or adjust the report time which may not be changed in the calendar; however, the information is always given to the student during class and posted on the classroom whiteboard.
Color Guard Fees
There is fee for each music student. The NHS Music fees are used to pay for competition fees, clinicians, miscellaneous supplies, truck rental for away events, color guard uniform, and the music banquet. The Music Fee does not include shoes(Dinkles). See the Student Dues Ticket for additional items not included!
IMPORTANT!
When sending in funds, please send a check or money order (not cash). Checks are to be made payable to NHS Music. Write your child’s name, and the purpose of the check on the memo line.
Note:
YOUR MUSIC FEE IS DUE IN SEPTEMBER! Checks can be deposited in the Music Booster locker in the band room or in the Orchestra room.
Report Time
Report time is always earlier than the event time. Color Guard members usually need to arrive at the band room approximately one hour ahead of time. You will be emailed the report time for events about a week before the actual date.
“To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, to be late is not to be.”
Please make sure your student arrives in plenty of time to have all of their equipment and uniform ready to go at Report Time.
Permission Slips
Medical information and "permission-to-travel with the band" forms will be sent home during the week of Band Camp. These must be returned at the end of Band Camp.
Fundraisers
The Band/Chorus trip for this year is to Disney World. It is scheduled to take place in the spring of 2021. The trip is self funded by those students wishing to participate. We offer a fundraising opportunity each year where the students can earn money to help them pay for their trip.

Helping at the football games ... What does it entail?
There are four major booster activities at the games:
- Uniform Duty: Uniforms are stored in the band room. Students come to the door of the store room before the game and get their bagged uniforms. Afterwards, the students re-bag their uniform and return them to the store room where the volunteers hang them up.
- Chaperoning: For away games, each bus needs a parent on it to be sure everyone is on board and seated.
- Booster Table: During the first half of a home game we sell fundraising items at the Booster Table. After halftime, the items are boxed up and taken back to the band room. Generally volunteers work in two shifts: 1) Setting Up and Pre-Game through the 1st Quarter or 2) 2nd Quarter through Halftime and Breaking Down
- Pit: Working the "Pit" means helping students to load and unload the instruments that remain on the sidelines during the show (xylophones, vibraphones, percussion, etc.) as well as the ladders that the drum majors stand on. After the show, all items are taken back to the band room (home games) or truck (away games).
